OUTSTANDING Lg O/C ADVERTISING PAINTING GREEN FAIRY DEVIL GRAPPA WINE CLASSICO

Description

This is an Estate Fresh old genuine Large Oil on Canvas Painting of a Devil with a bottle of Grappa Wine -  Castillo Classico of Italy.  This is like an Industrial Advertising Painting with an amazing eye catching work of art as the Subject on a black background.  The advertising at the bottom for this particular product.... Grappa Classico Italy.  The Devil is really well displayed and this would look great in any restaurant Brewery or Home or Loft Decor for that matter, especially if you are a wine lover!!  And this is not a print or a Giclée or Silkscreen, this is an honest to goodness Original Oil Painting on Canvas.  Its big and frame finished at 37" X 25" wide.  Its really quite stunning and super colorful!!  This would be awesome in a Loft in New York City!
This figure was originally painted by Leonetto Cappiello in 1906 for the beverage Maurin Quina, a French Aperitif , as an advertisement.  The image features a Devilish figure sneakily de-corking a bottle of that drink.  The Green devilish figure evokes la fee Verte ( The Green Fairy), the nickname for Absinthe, a drink that was popular during the Belle Epoque.  The product was banned by the French Gov't shortly after it was released.  A wealth of interesting info on that product is available on line, however this painting does depict a different beverage, the Grappa, but the Green Fairy Devil was taken and used for this advertisement.  I do not believe it lasted long as there is no record found on line or anywhere that shows this Devil with this product.  Its a rare item indeed!
