    Description

For auction is a beautiful cabinet vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The pattern is called "Candia (Gold) Silberiris". This vase is a nice cabinet size as it stands 4 7/16" tall and has a diameter of 2 3/4" at the shoulder. The bottom of the vase has a diameter of 2". The very top lip has a diameter of 2 3/8" outside measurement. A nicely shaped vase.
The vase has a baluster shape with a heavy silver overlay pattern. The pattern is an Art Nouveau pattern of a "Thistle". The details in the Thistle and its leaves on trailing vines is outstanding. This is not a commonly found silver overlay pattern and the silver overlay is thick and not thin like the lesser expensive silver overlay vessels. The pattern is laid over an even more beautifully decorated art glass vessel. The gold iridescence with hues of platinum blues is just wonderful. The silver overlay is very detailed and covers the entire vase including the neck and bottom edge. The inside of the glass has a Vaseline feel to it and a slight tinge of green.
The vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, or chips. The silver overlay seems to be all there and shows minor signs of use. The piece is unsigned but there is no mistake as to the maker of the vase as the decor is a well documented Loetz decor. It is a sweet cabinet size vase worthy of the advanced Loetz collector. This is a must for those who collect Loetz Art Glass. This is considered an early piece of Loetz, circa 1900-1905. A wonderful piece of European art glass.
