Description
Japanese Antique omen mask FUDO (b32)This is not a
Noh Mask, but rather a Nasonari Mask used for ancient Japanese dance drama Bukaku.
Nasori is the name of a specific dance that is part of the Japanese traditional Gagaku performance.
This piece was introduced to Japan from Korea but its origin is unknown. It is also called Soryu-no Mai (Dragon Pair Dance), a dance representing a male and a female dragon merrily disporting themselves. In olden days, it is said that this was performed to exalt the victor in traditional games of Sumo wrestling or other competitions.
