    Description

    Antique French Wine Demijohn Bonbonne with original protective crate and straw.
    Approx 13.5” x 11”
    It looks like this went through customs at some point, and was for use at the Paris La Chapelle International.
    The red collar makers mark around the bottle neck says Brevete Perrin & Fils Rognonas.
    ​The term demijohn or Dame-Jeanne as it's known in France, refers to any glass vessel with a large body and small neck. They were used to transport wine directly from the Chateaux vineyard to the wine seller or restaurant. There are many glass demijohn bottles for sale today, but few still have the original wood/straw/whicker protection.
