    Description

1969 Burgundy Parducci Winery, Mendocino County
    empty Wine Bottle & Label
bottle weight: 1 lbs, 2 ounces
The wine names "Burgundy, Chablis, Chianti, Champagne" and others, when placed on California wine labels, nowadays, is strictly forbidden by law. These names are actual geographical regions in France and Italy. In the beginning days of the California Wine Industry, wineries would use these names because people who drank wines were more familiar with them. But today, when place on California wines, they are considered "generic" wines, made from any grapes that the winery chooses to use and therefore these names are no longer allowed. Whereas a French Burgundy wine can ONLY be make with Pinot Noir grapes; Chablis can ONLY be made with Chardonnay grapes. So this bottle is as throwback to the good ol' days of California winemaking. This bottle and label is at least 50 years old.
